The Waikoloa Foundation has the privilege of stewarding deeply significant cultural, historical and ecological attributes of the unique landscape that makes up the Waikoloa Resort property on the Kohala Coast of Hawai‘i Island.

The Waikoloa Foundation is dedicated to serving as a responsible steward of the Waikoloa area’s precious historical and natural wonders. We are deeply committed to:

  • Protecting and restoring historical and cultural sites
  • Preserving Waikoloa’s natural resources
  • Empowering Hawaiʻi’s future generations, leaders and change-makers through education and community initiatives
  • Leading responsible tourism efforts on the Kohala Coast
  • Encouraging sustainable development to protect Hawaiʻi’s unique ecosystem

Cultural Resource Center

The Waikoloa Foundation is currently in the planning stages to convert the historical Parker Ranch Recreation building into a Waikoloa cultural resource center to be the new home for programming, education and historic preservation of the rich cultural heritage at Waikoloa. This project will transform this space back into the community hub it once was, now with renewed purpose in service of the Foundation’s mission, preserving it in perpetuity.

The Waikoloa Foundation is developing virtual field trip experiences for students to have digital access to safely explore the unique environmental and historical features at Waikoloa.

The Ala Kahakai Trail Mainetance

Ala Kahakai Trail Maintenance

The Waikoloa Foundation continues to maintain its section of the 175 mile historic shoreline trail path safe for hikers by clearing branches and debris regularly.

The Waikoloa Foundation supports ongoing efforts in partnership with the Waikoloa Land Company and resort members to provide daily maintenance, repair and stewardship work to ensure that the traditional fishponds at Kuʻualiʻi and Kahapapa continue to thrive.
