KOHALA COAST, Hawai’i Island- May 24th, 2024- Waikoloa Beach Resort, the “Gathering Place” of the Kohala Coast, is pleased to announce an interactive, fully mobile, culturally inspired app. Narrated by cultural expert and member of the Waikoloa Foundation’s Advisory Board Kanani Aton, the 15-stop app takes visitors and kamaʻaina through the vast 1,350-acre master planned resort. With stunning visuals and an easy-to-follow walking guide, the app allows the listener a closer glimpse into the resort’s offerings while paying homage to the rich history that makes up the resort.
“Sharing the legacy of Waikoloa Beach Resort was always a dream of my father’s,” shares Cary Boeddeker, Board Chair of the Waikoloa Foundation. “We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new cultural walking tour app, a groundbreaking collaborative initiative by the Waikoloa Foundation and Waikoloa Beach Resort. This innovative tool will immerse visitors and locals alike in our beloved community’s rich heritage and vibrant traditions.” The app aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the area’s cultural treasures while promoting sustainable tourism and preserving the island’s unique identity. Each stop takes the user on a captivating journey where they will explore the hidden gems and untold stories that make Waikoloa truly extraordinary.
